Practice software comparison
Asana vs CliniBase: tasks or practice operations?
Asana can already handle assigned work, recurring tasks and approvals. Keep it if that process works. Assess CliniBase when the missing link is between a practice instruction, its reviewed version, staff learning and the work someone needs to finish.
Published by CliniBase, currently in early access. Based on official product information, not hands-on testing of other tools. CliniBase AI depends on practice permissions and processing settings.
What each approach gives you

| Your need | Asana | CliniBase |
|---|---|---|
| Own the work | Tasks with assignees, dates, project views and recurring schedules.1 | Tasks, dates, reminders and handovers alongside the practice workspace.2 |
| Approve a change | Approval tasks on eligible plans; check who can complete the approval.3 | Guide, procedure and training publication requires a different authorised reviewer. |
| Find the instruction | Task context, attachments and your linked document process. | Practice Hub and Ask Clini answers linked to permitted sources. |
| Onboard a starter | Build a project checklist and agree how learning is recorded. | Assign learning tied to an approved version and track follow-through. |
| Connect the systems | Broad app integrations; no direct CliniBase connector is claimed. | Read-only Cliniko/Nookal connections. External API admission remains disabled.4 |
When Asana is enough
Our assessment: Asana is a sensible place for clinic projects such as a website refresh, supplier change or reception fit-out. These jobs need owners, dependencies and deadlines. They do not automatically need another practice platform.
Asana advertises AI agents and workflow automation. Check the features enabled in your plan against the same practical handover test.1
For approval tasks, show who can approve and what that approval covers when an attached instruction changes.3
Test a recurring supplier-order handover
Use fictional material to assign one monthly stationery order. Link the current ordering instruction, change one step and ask a second person to review it. Then let a new starter complete the handover without asking the manager where the answer lives.
- Can the owner identify the reviewed instruction from the task?
- Does a procedure change make it clear who needs updated learning?
- Can you check completion in one agreed place?
- Keep the process in Asana if it passes. Consider CliniBase only for the specific gap it exposes.
Practical questions
Can Asana manage allied health clinic tasks?
Yes. General project and task workflows can suit nonclinical clinic work. The buying question is whether your instruction, review and learning process is maintained reliably.
Should we move every Asana project to CliniBase?
No. CliniBase does not claim an Asana migration or synchronisation feature. Choose one owner system for each workflow and avoid maintaining the same task twice.
