Staff onboarding and training

Give allied health staff a clearer start

Start with the first operational job a new teammate needs to do. Give them its current instruction, a person to ask and a clear way to show the next step is complete.

Teach one useful workflow first

Choose a reception opening check, an internal handover or a process for requesting help. Avoid a large document dump. Explain what good completion looks like and who checks it.

In CliniBase, assigned learning links to the approved procedure version. Managers track acknowledgements and operational follow-up. Acknowledgement records that step; it does not prove competence.1

Prepare access and people

CliniBase does not replace payroll, employment contracts, clinical supervision or a full learning management system. Keep those responsibilities in the appropriate service and use the free checklist to test your current setup first.1

  • Choose an editor and a different authorised reviewer. A solo author still needs independent review before publication.
  • Give the teammate the role and source access needed for the workflow; private work stays separate.
  • Use a nonclinical recording only when permitted; remove patient details and confidential staff material.
  • Agree the first task, due date and manager check. Update learning when its underlying approved version changes.

Fictional example · no real practice data

A new starter's first opening checklist

A fictional practice prepares a short nonclinical reception process before a teammate joins.

  1. Prepare

An authorised editor records the process and checks its editable draft.

  2. Approve

A different authorised reviewer approves the guide and linked training.

  3. Assign

The manager gives the starter the approved version and an opening task.

  4. Check

The starter acknowledges learning; the manager checks the task in practice.

Check the result: Can the starter follow the process and ask the right owner for help? Treat acknowledgement and demonstrated ability separately.

Practical questions

Do we need to rebuild all training at once?

No. Start with one supported operational workflow. Enquire about early-access fit, pricing and setup before committing to a wider rollout.

Does this replace clinical supervision?

No. These examples concern operational instructions and learning. Clinical competence, supervision and professional obligations need their own appropriate review.
