Granola AI vs CliniBase: meeting notes and owned actions
Granola helps capture and work with meeting notes. CliniBase helps organise practice guidance, learning and assigned work. They address different parts of follow-through: keep a useful meeting tool, and assess CliniBase when a reviewed decision needs an owner, an instruction or a learning update.
Published by CliniBase, currently in early access. Based on official product information, not hands-on testing of other tools. CliniBase AI depends on practice permissions and processing settings.

| Your need | Granola AI | CliniBase |
|---|---|---|
| Capture the meeting | AI notepad with enhanced notes from meeting context; no meeting bot required.1 | Practice knowledge and operational work; not a live meeting-transcription replacement.2 |
| Prepare a follow-up | Meeting chat, action-item summaries and drafting support. | Supported practice drafts and proposed actions for people to review. |
| Own the next task | Decide where an agreed meeting action becomes the team's authoritative task. | Tasks with owners, dates, reminders and completion. |
| Change a routine | Notes provide meeting context; choose the instruction-review process. | Different-author approval of procedures and linked version-specific learning. |
| Use both tools | Review permitted takeaways before transferring them manually. | No supported Granola connector. External API admission is disabled.3 |
A useful summary still needs a decision
Our assessment: Granola is relevant when the practical problem is taking notes during nonclinical planning meetings and recalling the discussion. Its product also describes chat and follow-up drafting, so it should not be assessed as transcription alone.
A suggested action in notes is not necessarily an agreed task. Before creating practice work, confirm the decision, owner and due date. If a decision changes a procedure, use the normal independent review and learning process. CliniBase does not make a meeting summary an approved instruction automatically.
Test one permitted planning decision
Use a fictional meeting about reorganising the reception stationery cupboard. Review the proposed takeaways, retain only the agreed nonclinical action and assign it in the chosen task system. If the opening routine changes, prepare the instruction for a different authorised reviewer.
- Does the action reflect the decision people actually made?
- Does one owner know what to finish and by when?
- Can the next shift find the reviewed routine without the meeting transcript?
- Keep raw patient, clinical and confidential staff discussion out of CliniBase.
Practical questions
Is this a comparison of clinical AI scribes?
No. This guide covers nonclinical operational meetings only. CliniBase is not a clinical note-taking or patient-record product.
Can Granola send meeting actions directly to CliniBase?
No current supported connector is available. A person can review permitted operational takeaways and create the agreed work; the external API remains gated.
